Babaker Sons was established in 1958 by Late Mr. Saleh Abdulaziz Babaker, the company specializes in the trading of grains and foodstuff. It has started as a distributer of foodstuff in the 1960s, and emerged afterwards to one of the largest players in the FMCG sector in Saudi Arabia. Company’s main product is rice, which is considered the main food item in the GCC region. In addition the company trades in coffee, tea, cardamom and sugar.
Babaker Sons is considered one of the largest importers of Indian Basmati Rice with annual imports exceeding 180,000 MT. They also import rice from other countries as well such as Pakistan, and Thailand.
The Company sells premium Indian Basmati rice under its own brand (Abukass) a +30 year old brand, which is well known in the Middle East, and the most popular rice brand in Saudi Arabia. They sell other varieties of rice under their other brands such as Baher, Zaman, Tejan, Rahi and Daawa.
The Company employs around 400 employees; the annual turnover of the Company is around $200MM.
Babaker Sons is a family business closely run by the owners Mr. Omar and Mr. Saeed Babaker, both have excellent experience in trading and marketing, and have been running and developing the business for the past 35 years.
Suneet brings senior management qualities and is answerable to the funders and board of directors. He has a keen eye on cost efficiencies and program management. This allows Mera Real Estate to deliver homes on a timely basis as well as returns to the shareholders.

Before joining Mera, Labeed had worked as a Development Manager for a real estate fund in Mayfair and as a Project Manager / Quantity Surveyor for various construction consultancy firms in Central London.
Labeed is a Qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying.
Labeed’s key role at Mera is to successfully deliver projects on time and budget from planning stage through to construction.
