Babaker Sons was established in 1958 by Late Mr. Saleh Abdulaziz Babaker, the company specializes in the trading of grains and foodstuff. It has started as a distributer of foodstuff in the 1960s, and emerged afterwards to one of the largest players in the FMCG sector in Saudi Arabia. Company’s main product is rice, which is considered the main food item in the GCC region. In addition the company trades in coffee, tea, cardamom and sugar.

Babaker Sons is considered one of the largest importers of Indian Basmati Rice with annual imports exceeding 180,000 MT. They also import rice from other countries as well such as Pakistan, and Thailand.

The Company sells premium Indian Basmati rice under its own brand (Abukass) a +30 year old brand, which is well known in the Middle East, and the most popular rice brand in Saudi Arabia. They sell other varieties of rice under their other brands such as Baher, Zaman, Tejan, Rahi and Daawa.

The Company employs around 400 employees; the annual turnover of the Company is around $200MM.

Babaker Sons is a family business closely run by the owners Mr. Omar and Mr. Saeed Babaker, both have excellent experience in trading and marketing, and have been running and developing the business for the past 35 years.

Managing Director

Suneet has built and delivered over a hundred housing projects over the last 30 years. Experienced Founder with a demonstrated history of working in the real estate industry. Strong business development professional with a (MBA) focused in finance and financial management services.

Suneet brings senior management qualities and is answerable to the funders and board of directors. He has a keen eye on cost efficiencies and program management. This allows Mera Real Estate to deliver homes on a timely basis as well as returns to the shareholders.

Neal Sahni

Board Member

Over 26 years of experience in the Agriculture Commodity business, across a host of geographical locations including Asia, Middle East, East Africa, Indian subcontinent, East Europe, EU, North and South America. Strong background in international trade, relationship management, transaction execution, logistics management, conflict resolution, people management and contract negotiation.

Financial Controller

Tania brings strong organisational and finance skills to the team, to ensure smooth operations across our sites, from the company headquarters.

Nirav Shah

Senior Land Manager

A management graduate from the London School of Economics with a masters in property development and planning. Currently undertaking the RICS APC pathway to become an accredited chartered valuer and surveyor. Nirav has worked in the industry since 2010, contracting and consulting for various developers in London and the South East.

Andrew Warren

Andrew is a Senior Property Consultant based at our Head Office. He has over 35 years’ experience in the property industry and is a highly accomplished professional with proven success in negotiating property and land sales.

Kylie is the Personal Assistant to our CEO. She brings over 20 years of administrative experience to the company with expertise in scheduling & correspondence. As well as fulfilling her PA duties, Kylie also offers support to the rest of the team and works out of our head office.

Development Manager

Labeed joined Mera in January 2022 as a Development Manager.

Before joining Mera, Labeed had worked as a Development Manager for a real estate fund in Mayfair and as a Project Manager / Quantity Surveyor for various construction consultancy firms in Central London.

Labeed is a Qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying.

Labeed’s key role at Mera is to successfully deliver projects on time and budget from planning stage through to construction.
